Teacher Training
In 2004, Camilla Barry led the first teacher-training in Ghazni province. Ghazni is 3 hours south of Kabul, and it proximity to taliban areas made it inaccessible for most nonprofits. The Governor of Ghazni learned of Camilla's work in other parts of Afghanistan and asked her to train his teachers. Over 120 teachers attended that first training, and a subsequent one in 2005.
Afghan Friends Network
This nonprofit helped arrange the first two trips, coordinating efforts with the Minister of Education, the Governor, and raising money to buy school supplies.
Plans for 2008
Classrooms Across Cultures will visit Ghazni again, at the behest of the Governor, to lead a third teacher training in highschool chemistry. The teachers are thrilled to see Camilla Barry again, after taliban difficulties made it impossible to return in 2006.
