Our Focus
We are dedicated to improving education in regions affected by war, natural disaster, poverty or other destabilizing events. Since 2003, Classrooms Across Cultures (CAC) teachers have been focusing on Afghanistan, whose educational system was in shambles following thirty years of war. It is recovering now, but needs a lot of help.
How CAC Works to Improve Education
- Teacher-Training
- Classroom Instruction
- Providing School Supplies
- Creating schools in a box for remote home schools
- Working with governments to improve education
- Helping women use the skills they've learned in class to start small businesses
Our current country focus is Afghanistan. In most cases, CAC is contacted by a nonprofit agency that is already working with a school/s in Afghanistan. The school is usually up and running, but in need of modern teaching methods and materials. CAC is invited to lead a teacher-training at the school. If we determine there is a need and we have the resources to fill it, watch out world - here we come!
Our work takes us to sites where the need is very great. We get out into the trenches, visiting schools too remote or risky for other nonprofits.
Here are regions we have visited in Afghanistan:
* Ghazni
* Kabul
* Zerak Valley
* Lalander Valley
